Lightspeed Champion - Falling Off The Lavender Bridge (2008)

The former lead singer of Test Icicles Devonte Hynes released his first solo album this year, and its a pleasant surprise.

Falling Off The Lavender Bridge seems like it would be a perfect fit for Saddle Creek with its roots grasped in alt-country. The album sounds more like Bright Eyes than Test Icicles, but that doesn't stop it from being filled with mostly standout tracks like the nearly 10 minute Midnight Surprise, or the first single Everyone I Know is Listening to Crunk.

Tokyo Police Club - Elephant Shell (2008)

Look for these guys to take the huge step towards becoming the next big hit from indie rock. Coming in at 28 minutes, Tokyo Police Club's latest can hardly be called an LP. With tight guitars intertwined with a solid rhythm section, this album is almost a collection of singles.
